Last resort will be to revert back to Windows 7 which I know there is an option to do, but would prefer not to have to do that. Beyond working with your Mac, you can also download a free HFS+ driver for PCs and use this external hard drive with your Windows computer. I can still write to the drive on my wife's Windows 7 machine.

I believe this happened when I upgraded to Mavericks (was using Mountain Lion). I'm not sure if any of this makes any difference but my goFlex home Seagate network drive works fine with no issues.

The laptop that works fine is 64 bit, and was updated from Windows 8 to 10. Paragon Driver for macOS (10.10 to 10.15) This driver provides write access for Seagate external drives in Mac OS without having to reformat. I've had the same issue having updated 2 laptops to Windows 10 recently, One works fine and the other half works!
